Description
1987 by Andy Frost. A large artwork to mark the northern entrance to the Derwent Walk County Park. This is a marine plywood and steel artwork, finished with gloss paints and lacquers, of a steam train. It is mounted on top of the bridge abutment of the redundant railway viaduct which spanned the road. Commissioned by Tyne and Wear County Council and Gateshead MBC. Sponsored by the same, plus the Countryside Commission and Northern Arts. LISTED GRADE II
