          Description
During archaeological evaluation on the site of South West Farm (by Archaeological Services Durham University) a cow skeleton with foetal calf was recorded, buried in a pit. There was medieval pottery in the fill of the pit. A complex of gullies and ditches also containing medieval pottery were recorded, probably forming plot boundaries behind the medieval properties which fronted onto the main thoroughfare (Front Street). The tumble from a former wall had fallen into one of the ditches. Report is forthcoming.
