Description
Building-stones found in field-walls adjacent to Hadrian's Wall at Walbottle; seen by Horsley before 1732. Now lost. Inscribed: a-f: I, III, V, VII or more, VIII, IX. There were two or three more with number I upon them, and another also with number V. These numbers are evidently unconnected with the placing of the stones in a structure and must be regarded as relating to quarrying or dressing.
