Description
Two Roman coins were recovered from the Tyne, near the find spot of the altar to Oceanus, and reported to the Society of Antiquaries by R. Blair. One is Hadrianic, the other Trajanic. 1. Hadrian. AE: obv. HADRIANVS AVG; laureated head of the emperor to the left; rev. FELICITATI AVG, a galley with rowers. 2. Trajan. AE: obv. NERVAE TRAIANO AVG GER DAC PM TR P COS III PP; laureated bust to right; rev. FELICITAS AVGVST; figure standing to left, holding cornucopia and thunderbolt.
