Waterloo Square

2002-6 masterplan by Napper Architects. New buildings on the east, west and south sides face interestingly varied spaces and surfaces in the square. Steps between the levels are set off by large stone spheres, paved areas blend with adjoining lanes. At the south-east, City Quadrant apartments and offices by DLA Architecture, with varied levels and materials. To the south-west a simple rendered hotel. The partly stone-clad multi storey Grainger Town car park on the west side is by Napper. Curved glass pedestrian entrance and stair, restaurants on the ground floor (McCombie).
