Structure

This structure, on the east side of Down Hill, is a three-arched kiln of limestone rubble dating from the late eighteenth century or early nineteenth century set into a steep escarpment. It is more typical of the small kilns producing lime for agricultural purposes than any of the other surviving kilns in the county. It is not shown on the 2nd edition Ordnance Survey plan, so was presumably out of use by 1895. LISTED GRADE 2
