Description
Mary Pit (Coal) appears on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey plan ans was probably reused as an air shaft for Blaydon Burn Colliery at a later date. Remains of buildings and an air shaft tower survive on the north side of West Lane, near a school. The site was recently in use as a scrapyard.
