Description
Found at fort before 1789. Slightly burnt on front and upper left corner has broken off. 15 x 10 inches. LEG(IO) II AUG(USTA) on standard: LEG(IO) II 'The Second Legion Augusta (built this). The Second Legion'. Central panel edged with a border. Carving has a vexillum with pointed shaft, hand grip fringed banner. Flanked to left by Capricorn and to right by Pegasus (emblem of second legion). RIB 1341. CSIR 280. British Museum A.O.250
