Description
An oak spade, almost 3 feet long, the cutting portion 8 inches long and 6.75 inches wide, was found in Neville Street whilst new water mains were being installed. It was donated to the Society of Antiquaries of Newcastle upon Tyne by Mr L.W. Adamson for Newcastle and Gateshead Water Co. in 1902.
