Description
River Tyne, two Roman copper alloy brooches
One brooch with missing foot, head and bow enamelled in blue with fragment of chain attached to the loop. Of Backworth type.
Second brooch, with harp-shaped bow, probably C2 AD. A 7 inch chain is attached.
The brooches may have been worn as a dissimilar pair.
Both dredged from the Tyne.
Donated to the Society of Antiquaries by E. Blair.
