Description
River Tyne, Roman glass beaker
Roman glass beaker found with three ceramic vessels of uncertain date (black fabric). Glass cup 3 inches in diameter. Good condition. Part of one side missing. Donated to the Museum of Antiquities by Mr Charles Spence of Dept of Architecture, King’s College, Newcastle upon Tyne. The glass vessel belonged to the donor’s grandfather who lived in Tynemouth. Believed to have been found in the River Tyne near the Swing Bridge.
