Description

Two lodges are shown on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map, surveyed c.1855, at the top of the drive to Birtley Hall. This one is on the south side of the modern Harras bank, west of the entrance to the drive. Whether or not it is shown on the tithe map of 1846 is unclear, but it is unlikely to pre-date the Hall, constructed in the 1820s.
