Wallsend, Park Road, air raid shelters and ARP post

Two air raid shelters with brick walls and reinforced concrete roofs (one also had roofing felt and bitumen). They would have been able to hold 100 people each, split between two rooms. Both were equipped with Elsan type chemical toilets with a sacking curtain "door". The outer wall was pierced by vents and regular intervals. In recent times, one shelter has been used as a workshop. The other had had four glazed windows inserted and basic plumbing.
