Description
Railway Bridge of former York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway
1849, rail approach to High Level Bridge. Attributed to John Dobson. Slantwise
over the road. Ashlar side piers support set back wide segmental arch with pointed
rusticated voussoirs. Deep cornice broken forward around piers. Blocking course
and tall parapet over. The segmental barrel vault of the bridge is of skewed banded
rusticated stone. LISTED GRADE 2
