Description
1997 by Colin Wilbourn, Karl Fisher and Craig Knowles. Comprises of a sailing ship carved into a retaining wall at the rear of North Dock. The perspective is only aligned correctly if viewed from a nearby bench looking through the keyhole of a half door. There is also a stone doorway set into the retaining wall with a sun in stained glass lit from a lamp inside. A third doorway in soft white stone stands separately with two steel oars against it and a stained glass sailing boat and a seagull. Commissioned by Tyne and Wear Development Corporation.
