Description
Daghere in 1128, Rachere in 1195, Rakere c.1225, Rahgere. 'Ra' is Old English for a landmark or boundary or a roe. 'Racu' means a hollow, stream, stream bed or the straight stretch of a river. 'Rake' is Old English for a narrow path up a hill. Owned by the monks of Durham.
