Description
Found in the back garden of No. 21 Callerton Road. The medal commemorates the battle of Koeniggratz (Sadowa) on 3 July 1866. The medal is in the form of an Iron Cross. The obverse reads 'Koeniggratz Den Juli 1866, spaced on each arm of the cross. In the centre is an eagle surrounded by a laurel wreath. The reverse reads WAR UNS SEI, DIE EHRE, GOTT MITT IHM in the arms of the cross, but the top arm has a crown. In the centre the reading is PREUSSENS SIEG REICHEM HEERE.
