Description
An extension of the waggonway system at Benwell (HER 4082) northwards. A map of 1826 (Turnbull 2009, 119) and Bell’s Map of 1847 shows an extension of Benwell waggonway running from Charlotte Pit, to Edward Pit to the north-west. The line ran through the site of the Roman Fort of Condercum.
