A polished stone axe was found on Throckley Fell, and donated to the Society of Antiquaries of Newcastle in 1814. There is no recorded findspot, however, and it could have been found in Northumberland. The axe has been described as 8.5 in (21.4 cm) long, 3 1/8 in (8 cm) broad at the cutting edge, 1.25 in wide at the butt, 1 3/8 in (36 mm) thick, and 1 lb 14 oz in weight.
