A flint axe was found in 1917 about 50 yards west of the cist burial (SMR 518-520), and in 1959 was noted by the O.S. as being in the possession of Mrs. Wheatley, Ash Tree Farm, Chopwell. Cocks made a cast of it, and this measured 92 mm x 38 mm x 22 mm. Was Miket's drawing of the cast, and is this now with the rest of the Cocks Collection in the Museum of Antiquities? The drawing suggests the axe was a roughout.
